I’m Intrigued! How do I start?

Do you feel the pull to contribute a Threshold Story?

This page will walk you through the submission process. First, you should review What is a Threshold Story to make sure your story aligns with the vision for these anthologies. We believe every voice should be heard, but not every story will belong in one of our anthologies. An anthology has a point of view, and curation is not censorship.

You don’t need to have your story figured out before we talk. You’ve read What is a Threshold Stories. Check out the Story Arc which loosely frames our stories. You have a feel for the vision behind the series. Ask yourself:

  • Does the premise resonate with you?

  • Does this feel like a project—and a community of women—you would like to be part of?

Alignment

You may know immediately, “This is the story.” Or you may have two or three possibilities. Either is fine. You don’t need an outline, a polished idea, or even certainty that what you’re thinking about is “a story” yet.

Think about what story you might want to tell

Read the themes for Becoming, Courage, and Conviction. Notice where your story seems to belong—but don’t worry about getting this exactly right. Part of Gretchen’s role as series curator is helping you find the best home for your story.

Review the Specifics

Review the Author Benefits and Community Publishing Cost Sharing mechanics. Threshold Stories is more than getting your story published. We are creating a community and working together to create impact.

Your story is your medicine. And your medicine becomes her medicine. And that is how we change the world, one story, one book at a time.

You do not need to be a professional writer—or even think of yourself as a writer—to begin.

Bring the story. We’ll figure out the rest together.

Let’s meet! Threshold Stories are built around relationship and community, and I want to know the women whose stories I will be entrusted with. We’ll talk about you, the story you’re considering, and what drew you to Threshold Stories. During our conversation, we can:

  • answer your questions about Threshold Stories

  • talk through your story idea—or several possibilities

  • make sure your story is a good fit for the Threshold Stories vision and one of the three volumes

  • determine what kind of support will help you move from “I have a story” to “I’m ready to submit my story”

Your  Story as a Gift

Your lived experiences change the way you live, love, lead, choose, speak, create, care, resist, hope, and begin again. And perhaps most importantly, what you know today can support another woman standing at a similar threshold. You do not have to give her advice or tell her what to do. Simply tell the truth about what happened, what changed, and what you came to understand.

Your story became your medicine.

Now your medicine becomes her medicine.

And her story becomes medicine for another woman.

And this is how we change the world.
