Stories by Women for Women

where your story becomes her medicine

We welcome women with stories rooted in lived experience, transformation, and the wisdom that comes from engaging deeply with life.

Red Tent Press is emerging because women’s stories matter—and because telling them changes lives. For generations, women’s experiences have been minimized, polished, hidden, spoken only in trusted circles, or left out of the larger story altogether. We believe what women have lived, learned, survived, created, lost, reclaimed, and become deserves to be witnessed and remembered.

Our nonfiction books center the lived experiences, authentic voices, and enduring wisdom of women across the thresholds of a lifetime. We are interested not in perfect stories or prescribed answers, but in the truths that emerge when women speak honestly about who we are, how we got here, what has shaped us, and who we are becoming.

We believe stories are medicine. When women encounter themselves in another woman’s story, something becomes possible: recognition, belonging, courage, healing, and transformation. One woman’s story can give another woman language for an experience she has never been able to name—or permission to tell a story she thought she had to carry alone.

Red Tent Press creates a home for those stories: personal narratives, memoir, anthologies, and other works rooted in women’s lived experience and hard-won wisdom. These are stories of becoming and belonging, motherhood and daughterhood, identity and aging, grief and resilience, body and spirit, courage and conviction, freedom and reclamation.

Because when women tell the truth about our lives, we do more than preserve our stories. We remember ourselves. We witness one another. And we leave something behind for the women who follow.

Step Into the Void

What happens when the life we have known falls away—and we cannot yet see what comes next?

Step Into the Void is a collection of poetry and contemplative photography born at the thresholds of loss, surrender, reclamation, and becoming. Moving through grief and uncertainty, wonder and awakening, these poems explore what it means to release our grip on what has been and enter the mystery of what is emerging.

Throughout the collection, the natural world becomes witness, teacher, and companion. Trees, rivers, moonlight, snow, blossoms, dragonflies, and wild places invite us to pay attention—to remember the wisdom of the body, the sacredness of the ordinary, and our ancient belonging to something larger than ourselves.

Intimate and contemplative, Step Into the Void does not promise a path around darkness. It offers something quieter—an invitation to enter it, listen deeply, and discover that the void may not be empty after all. It may be the fertile space where we relinquish what no longer belongs to us, reclaim what has been forgotten, and become more fully who we are.

Identity • Reinvention • New Beginnings

Who am I becoming?

Life’s thresholds we crossed to become who we were meant to be

Life rarely unfolds according to plan. A career changes. A relationship ends. Children grow up. A dream emerges. A new chapter begins. Stories of Becoming invites women to share stories of identity, reinvention, and transformation. We are seeking stories about finding your voice, changing direction, starting over, reclaiming forgotten parts of yourself, and becoming who you were always meant to be. These stories are not about perfection or success. They are about growth, self-discovery, and the choices that shape who we become.

Resilience • Loss • Perseverance

How did I keep going?

The moments we acted despite fear

Courage is rarely loud. Sometimes courage means speaking up. Sometimes it is staying. Sometimes it is leaving. Sometimes it is simply getting out of bed and facing another day. Stories of Courage invites women to share stories of resilience in the face of loss, grief, estrangement, illness, disappointment, uncertainty, or life's unexpected challenges. We are seeking stories about difficult choices, hard-won wisdom, and the strength to continue when the path ahead feels uncertain. These are stories of women who found a way forward, one step at a time.

Leadership • Advocacy • Resistance

What did I stand for?

The moments we chose to stand firm

Every woman reaches moments when she must decide what matters most. Sometimes conviction means speaking up. Sometimes it means saying no. Sometimes it means challenging expectations, questioning systems, protecting what we love, or remaining true to ourselves when the cost is high.

Stories of Conviction invites women to share stories of leadership, advocacy, courage, and integrity. We are seeking stories about standing up for yourself and others, acting from deeply held values, taking risks in service of something larger than yourself, and refusing to compromise what you know to be true. These are stories of women who found their voice, claimed their place, and lived in alignment with their deepest convictions.
